    2. FEEDWATER SYSTEMS

     

    DEAERATORS
    Purpose: Remove corrosive gases from boiler feed water to protect against boiler and steam line corrosion; substantially reduce chemical usage and boiler blowdown requirements. Typical DA packages operate at 5-15 psi and include ASME storage tank, boiler feed pump(s), suction piping, control package, electrical panel and structural steel stand.
    Applications: Fresh water makeup exceeds 25%; boiler operating pressure above15 psi; production depends on continuous operation.

    FEEDWATER SYSTEMS
    Purpose: Receive and store condensate return; provide fresh water makeup as required; Typical feedwater systems are vented to atmosphere and include non-ASME storage tank, boiler feed pump(s), suction piping, control package, electrical panel and stand. Steam injection preheat systems are often included to maintain minimum boiler water temperature.

    SURGE TANKS
    Purpose: Supplement DA storage capacity; collect low-pressure condensate returns. Provide continuous makeup to deaerator reducing DA tank size; Typical surge tank systems are vented to atmosphere and include storage tank, transfer pump(s), suction piping, control package, electrical panel and stand.

    3. BOTTOM BLOWDOWN SYSTEMS

    BLOWDOWN SEPARATOR
    Purpose: Provide safe and effective means to collect and cool boiler blowdown to required temperature for drain. Flash steam is vented to atmosphere and cooled water goes to drain.

    4. SURFACE BLOWDOWN SYSTEMS

    BLOWOFF HEAT RECOVERY
    Purpose: Recover waste heat from continuous boiler surface blowdown by preheating boiler feed water before it enters feedwater tank or DA. Units automatically control blowdown rate to maintain desired level of dissolved solids in boiler water and recover up to 90% of available heat normally lost to drain.

    FLASH TANK HEAT RECOVERY
    Purpose: Similar to the Blowdown Heat Recovery system except for the addition of a ASME code flash tank to provide the added benefit of utilizing the flash steam from blowdown. Flash steam is piped to the deaerator or low pressure steam header.

    5. CHEMICAL FEED SYSTEMS

    CHEMICAL FEED SYSTEMS
    Purpose: provides means of injecting necessary chemicals into the feedwater tank and/or boiler to control corrosive gases and prevent scale formation in the boiler. Systems include storage tank, pump(s), mixer, stand, and optional electrical panel. Sizes: 50 to 200 gallons.

    6. WATER SOFTENERS

    WATER SOFTENER
    Purpose: Soften boiler feed water by exchanging hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium ions) with sodium ions forming a soluble non-scaling mineral that will not build up on hot surfaces. Softener systems include single or multiple resin tanks, brine system, salt storage, and automatic regeneration controls.     9. MECHANICAL DRAFT SYSTEM

    MECHANICAL DRAFT SYSTEM
    Purpose: Ensure boilers operate at maximum efficiency by providing constant draft at all firing rates. System senses draft and modulates fan speed as stack conditions or firing rate change to maintain desired draft setting. System corrects difficult venting arrangements, allows different category appliances to be connected to a common stack and often reduces vent size and stack height. Vent sizing is determined and guaranteed by the manufacturer.

    10. MECHANICAL COMBUSTION AIR SYSTEM

    MODULATING COMBUSTION AIR SYSTEM
    Purpose: Provide make-up combustion air to boiler room to match burner requirements. System senses room air pressure and modulates variable speed fan to match combustion air to burner firing rate by maintaining a constant room pressure. Replaces large combustion air louvers which often introduce excess cold air into the boiler room.

    Purpose: Provide potable hot water on demand with or without storage tank utilizing an existing steam source. Provides temperature control of +-4 degrees F. from setpoint with steam condensate cooled to 200 degrees or less.

    15. WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS


    DEALKALIZER/DEMINERIALIZER
    Purpose: Improve boiler feed water quality, reduce boiler blowdown and reduce chemical usage. A chloride cycle dealkalizer is an ion exchange process that contains a strong base anion resin that is regenerated with salt brine and sodium hydroxide which exchanges alkalinity, sulfates, nitrates, carbon dioxide, and some silica for chloride ions. Dealkalizers are recommended when the bicarbonate alkalinity exceeds 100 ppm, makeup exceeds 1,000 gallons per day and the chloride count is below 120 PPM Demineralizer includes a strong acid cation (regenerated with sulfuric or hydrochloric acid) unit and strong basbase (sodium hydroxide) unit.

    REVERSE OSMOSIS
    Purpose: Improve boiler feed water, reduce boiler blowdown and reduce chemical usage. Uses a semi-permeable membrane under pressure to reject dissolved salts and allow pure water to pass through. RO is recommended for Food Processing, Sterilization, or other applications requiring high purity water without the use of water treatment chemicals.
